Today is Election Day! There is a ballot question for the Emmetsburg Community School District.
Learn more about this measure and how it plays a role in potentially creating a new school to serve our youngest students: https://www.emmetsburgbond.org.
A valid ID is required to cast your ballot. Find voting and polling place information here: https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/

REMINDER: On Tuesday, residents in the Emmetsburg Community School District will vote on a ballot measure that is the first step needed to construct a new facility to replace West Elementary School.
The question seeks permission to raise the district’s debt service levy limit to $4.05 per $1,000 of taxable property value. ECSD does not need to levy the full amount for this project and is instead proposing a rate of $2.83.
This plan would provide our PK-4 students with a top-notch learning environment where they can thrive and allow West to transition into an Early Learning Center.

If ECSD receives approval from voters to move forward with the construction of a new elementary school, the estimated tax impact from the project would be $2.83 per $1,000 of taxable property value.
For a home with an assessed value of $150,000, this would result in an estimated increase of $15.29 per month, or $183.49 annually.

Happy Labor Day to our students, staff, and families! 🎉

Due to a late cancellation and the unavailability of officials or another school, our JV football team does NOT currently have a game this week. I am still working and searching, but right now (Sunday, 9/1 at 5:30 pm) We do not have a team scheduled in place of PAC.
On Tuesday, September 10, residents of Emmetsburg Community School District will vote in a ballot question seeking permission to increase the district’s debt levy limit. Below is the exact language voters will see on the ballot:
“Shall the Board of Directors of the Emmetsburg Community School District in the County of Palo Alto, State of Iowa, be authorized to levy annually a tax exceeding Two Dollars and Seventy Cents ($2.70) per Thousand Dollars ($1,000), but not exceeding Four Dollars and Five Cents ($4.05) per Thousand Dollars ($1,000) of the assessed value of the taxable property within said school corporation to pay the principal of and interest on bonded indebtedness of said school corporation, it being understood that the approval of this public measure shall not limit the source of payment of the bonds and interest, but shall only operate to restrict the amount of bonds which may be issued?”
This measure is the first step in our plan to construct a new PK-4 school that provides our youngest learners with a safe and high-quality learning environment.
