In-person absentee voting is available weekdays at the Palo Alto County Auditor’s Office until September 9.

Happy Labor Day to our students, staff, and families! 🎉

Due to a late cancellation and the unavailability of officials or another school, our JV football team does NOT currently have a game this week. I am still working and searching, but right now (Sunday, 9/1 at 5:30 pm) We do not have a team scheduled in place of PAC.

On Tuesday, September 10, residents of Emmetsburg Community School District will vote in a ballot question seeking permission to increase the district’s debt levy limit. Below is the exact language voters will see on the ballot:
“Shall the Board of Directors of the Emmetsburg Community School District in the County of Palo Alto, State of Iowa, be authorized to levy annually a tax exceeding Two Dollars and Seventy Cents ($2.70) per Thousand Dollars ($1,000), but not exceeding Four Dollars and Five Cents ($4.05) per Thousand Dollars ($1,000) of the assessed value of the taxable property within said school corporation to pay the principal of and interest on bonded indebtedness of said school corporation, it being understood that the approval of this public measure shall not limit the source of payment of the bonds and interest, but shall only operate to restrict the amount of bonds which may be issued?”
This measure is the first step in our plan to construct a new PK-4 school that provides our youngest learners with a safe and high-quality learning environment.

West Elementary School has proudly educated our community’s youngest children for more than 70 years. However, facility and infrastructure challenges make it difficult for 21st century education to take place at the school today.
Our community is poised to consider ballot measures September 10 and November 5. If both are approved, they would allow the district to construct a new elementary school and provide our students with the modern learning environment and resources they need to thrive.

The Emmetsburg School Board has approved a $29.75 million bond issue question that will appear on the ballot Tuesday, November 5.
These funds would be used to build a new 65,000 square-foot elementary school on undeveloped property east of ILCC for students in preschool to 4th grade.
Our community will also vote in a September 10 election to consider raising the district’s debt service levy limit as part of this proposed project.
