The P-EBT is a USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) program that provides food assistance benefits to pre-kindergarten through 12th grade (PK-12) children who have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals (FRL) due to instruction schedule changes and school closures related to COVID-19.  The USDA P-EBT daily benefit per eligible student is $6.82.

At ECSD this would include students who:

  • Have an approved application or Direct Certification for Free and Reduced Lunches
  • 100% Virtual Learning--20 Days of EBT benefits per month
  • Were in a Hybrid Learning reduction in attendance--10 Days of EBT benefits per month
  • Were in isolation or quarantine due to COVID-19-benefits for actual days missed

The first round of payments will be for the months of September through December 2020.  In order to receive this benefit a free and reduced application must be on file and the student must attend an eligible school and meet the eligibility student requirements.

If you already filled out a meal application for this school year, no further action is required at this time. If you have not completed the meal application please do so at this time. Applications can be submitted at any time and may be found year-round at the Central Office or the school website www.e-hawks.org under Explore - Documents – Parent Resources - Free/Reduced Application. Completed applications may be returned to the Central Administration Office at 205 King Street, Emmetsburg, Iowa 50536. You can also go online to the JMC Parent Portal (https://ehawks.onlinejmc.com/) and click on Parents, go to the registration page for this school year and click on Meal Application. This will submit your application online; nothing needs to be returned to the school.

Emmetsburg Community School District is currently providing meals at school under the USDA Summer Food Service Program which allows ALL students to receive free meals through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

Please contact the Food Service Department at 712-852-3201 Ext 206 or dayers@e-hawks.org with any questions or to have a paper copy mailed to your address.
