Graduation Plan - High School Gym

  • Seniors will have a live Graduation ceremony in the HS Gym with limitations and by following guidelines from the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Palo Alto County Public Health, and Iowa Governor’s Office.

  • Participation in the group ceremony is voluntary/optional.

    • The school will make a special diploma presentation arrangement for any Graduate who is unable to participate in the group ceremony.

  • Each Graduate is allowed to have parents/guardians in attendance.

    • The Palo Alto County Public Health Department strongly encourages no one over the age of 60 or with health conditions putting them at high risk.

    • To prepare, we will ask all graduates to complete a survey letting us know if they will attend and register their parents/guardians that will attend. This survey will be sent to Seniors and their parents and a link will be available on the School Web Page.

  • Graduates will arrive at scheduled times with their parents (do not congregate with others on school premises). Once we receive all surveys, we will send a schedule out to let Graduates/Parents know what time to arrive at the school.

    • Seniors will be asked to arrive early for a photo to be taken in Door #5. They will then go back out Door #5 and get their parents and enter the assigned door. Entry doors will be assigned once we get all Graduate Surveys completed to create the final schedule.

  • Graduates and guests will be screened at the door.

    • Nurse/staff will take temperatures of Graduates and guests.  Hand sanitizer and wipes will be provided at the entrance door and entrance to HS Gym.

    • Other staff as needed will be present to help assist and facilitate Graduates and guests after their initial screening by Health staff

  • Masks are encouraged to be worn by all attendees.

  • Pictures by a professional photographer will take place in back of the Auditorium, just inside Door #5 (scheduled times).

    • All students need to have an individual picture taken for class composite.

  • Graduates and guests will be escorted by staff to the HS Gym to be seated.

  • “Pomp & Circumstance” recording will be played as Graduates and guests are entering the HS Gym (Band will not be playing).

  • Upon entering the HS Gym, Graduates will go straight to their designated seats.

    • Graduates’ seating will be spaced out at least 6 feet on the gym floor.

  • Parents/guests will go straight to seating areas in bleachers upon entering the HS Gym.  Staff will be available to assist guests to guest seating areas.

    • Parent/guests seating will be at least 6 feet apart from other guests.
