I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and well. You may or may not have had the opportunity to view the Governor’s press conference today. Governor Reynolds had extended the school closure until April 30, 2020
The second piece of important information was that schools that do not offer Continuous Learning Opportunities will be required to make-up time missed from April 13th to April 30th. ECSD will offer Continuous Learning Opportunities beginning Monday, April 13, 2020.
ECSD has been working on an option to provide Continuous Learning Opportunities since the closure began on March 16th. I give great credit to the Administrators, Instructional Coaches, and the Staff for their willingness to put in the work should this day arrive. Administrators and Instructional Coaches will meet tomorrow morning to finalize the plans that have been put together.
We need your help. We are committed to providing a more structured learning experience as we begin our Continuous Learning Opportunities. Parental support in helping their student(s) to understand that they need to engage in these Opportunities is crucial. You will be receiving more information about the structure from your student(s) teacher(s). Please work with your student(s) to monitor their participation in what teachers are offering them.
We cannot make up all that we have lost, but together we can limit the impact of school closures on both the remainder of this school year and next school year.
More detailed information will be provided to students and families on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
The ability to utilize internet and tools such as Google Classroom and Remind greatly enhances our ability to offer engaging Continuous Learning Opportunities. Teachers have been and will continue to reach out to Home Base Students/Families to check on students and find out if they have internet access at home. If you have not returned their calls, please do. This information is important in our planning.
We would like to be able to offer a more interactive experience through Google Classroom and Google Hangouts. We would have the ability to provide packets of work, but doing packets each week without interaction with peers and teachers is not very engaging or effective. If you are concerned about your ability to provide internet access to your student please email me at:
We will have internet access in the parking lots at the High School and at West Elementary. We are also working diligently on access possibilities for students.
Student Personal Items and laptops/Chromebooks.
The Administration Team has a plan for West and HS/MS. Building Principals will be communicating with you directly. In addition, we will ensure that students who need devices will be able to get them. This included grades 3-12. Grades PK-2 will also receive their Summer Book and Activity Bundles.
ECSD continues to serve by providing breakfast and lunch grab and go meals to the children of our community. In addition, we have bus drivers delivering on their country routes and to daycare centers. Yesterday we provided 340 breakfast bags and 340 lunch bags. We will continue the program M-F 7:30-9:00 a.m. until at least Friday, April 10, 2020.
Grab and Go Meal Pick-Up Procedures
Please enter the South Parking Lot Driveway and proceed North down the circle drive to the Middle School Entrance.
Let us know how many meals by holding up the correct number of fingers.
We will deposit the lunches in the bin on the table by the steps. Please remain in your vehicle.
Once the worker has gone back to the building, exit your vehicle and grab your meals.
Exit onto King St. from the Circle Drive.
Thank you for your understanding and patience through these unique challenges for our School and Community.
